Pancreatic cancer symptoms: Kidney is most likely to be affected

Pancreatic cancer symptoms are difficult to diagnose as there are few symptoms. The most prominent symptoms are pain on the right side of the stomach which worsens during digestion, and change in bowel habits. This often makes it difficult to diagnose the tumour. The tumour can affect different parts of the pancreas, the organ in which it starts, as well as the bile duct, the nervous system, and the gallbladder. Other symptoms of pancreatic cancer include blood in the urine, back pain, and fatigue.

Kidney failure is the most common complication of pancreatic cancer. Some people may have no symptoms of the disease. Kidney failure is likely to be one of the earliest symptoms of the cancer. In some cases, it may not be recognised until many years after the first symptoms appeared. According to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 40 per cent of patients have no or only minor kidney problems, but it is possible that this is because their symptoms have gone unrecognised. When it is diagnosed too late, kidney failure can cause further damage to other organs, which can make them dangerous or untreatable. Other kidney problems that may appear include blood in the urine, depression, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition in which the immune system attacks the joints. It can be associated with arthritis in the joints, and the bones and tendons as well as the skin. There are often no symptoms and, although inflammation of the joints can be a sign of this condition, it can be hard to diagnose without experiencing a problem.
